Celtic Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program
The Central Connecticut Celtic Cultural Committee (C.C.C.C.C.) has been formed for the purpose of fostering promoting, and celebrating the cultural and historical contributions of Irish and Irish-American individuals and groups in Central Connecticut. In addition to sponsoring Greater Hartford’s Annual St Patrick’s Day Parade, the C.C.C.C.C. also sponsors the Celtic Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program. This Scholarship Program recognizes the personal and educational achievements of Irish and Irish American young men and women, as well as their contributions to their community and their interest in promoting the culture of their heritage.
Applications will be reviewed by an independent panel. Award recipients (A Celtic Son and A Celtic Daughter) will each receive an Aran Sweater and a cash prize of $1,000.00.
Applicants will be scored on the resume / profile, two essays, and two recommendation forms. Completed applications are due (to the address provided below) by 9 pm on Monday January 4, 2010. Award winners will be notified by January 26, 2010.
The requirements for Scholarship Award consideration are as follows:
- Connecticut resident
- 17 to 22 years of age (high school senior or college undergraduate)
- Irish or of Irish descent
- Availability to attend the Parade Mass on Friday March 12th 7:00pm
- Availability to participate in the Greater Hartford St Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday March 13th 11:00 am
The completed application, two well written essays that address the questions (see application), and two completed recommendation forms must be submitted by 9pm January 4th to:
